Young Men’s QUEST for Life on the FAST LANE

I want to throw barns at today’s generation of young men, The “Y” Generation.
These are fairly well educated individuals with their 1st or even 2nd degrees.
They have a taste; a taste for the good things of life; expensive phones and other electronics, impeccable dressing and generally living large.
You will find them in Government and the private sector, Bank Tellers, Sales Reps, Clerks, Accountants, Briefcase businessmen etc. They are always faking it. They earn salaries of 50k but rents an apartment of Kshs 30k per month.
Because their expenses far outweigh their income they are always in debt.
A young man comes to you with the too familiar line “I am chasing a tender which should come through in a weeks time”. Please lend me 100k. Once you lend him the money on account of the “tender” worth hundreds of thousands of shillings, he disappears never to be seen again. You are left wondering how vulnerable you were to have easily fallen for such trickery.
The Y generation want instant everything. They meet a girl and take them to bed same day. Then as fast as they appeared into their lives they disappear, leaving the girls wondering what went wrong because as far as they were concerned, they clicked instantly. They believed it was chemistry.
A young man gets his first job and within six months he wants to be driving a souped up Subaru. They have no patience this Y generation guys.
No wonder incidences of bank fraud, misappropriation of funds and other misdemeanors in the corporate world are on the increase. The get rich quick tendencies among this groups of Kenyans is responsible for crime in Kenya. They want shortcuts to wealth.
They are averse to working hard, saving painstakingly and amassing wealth slowly and honestly. That is why you find Policemen and other personnel in the disciplined forces doubling up in crime. With this generation, our future is doomed.
